PROGRAM Platform 1
Korean Shorts
The "Platform 1" and "Platform 2" programs are a single journey of 10 short films that explore the trends and visions of Korean short films in various contexts. These programs are divided into 2 sections: “Mind the Gap” and “Enjoy the Gap,” which will be mix-screened during the Platform 1 and Platform 2 sections to allow the viewers to enjoy a variety of films with similarities or differences in characters or themes.
Mind the Gap: The Day , Bruise, Finding Haemi, Undo
In this section, 4 short films will be screened, each dealing with an intimate connection, a fall out, systemic violence and trauma, and all of which display the pathos of the, mostly young, characters. Viewers will be able to see characters in various circumstances, such as a woman about to begin an intimate relationship, a man about to be dumped, and others who are victims of structural violence and trauma. These films include wonderful scenes of dialogue and depict stories about 2, 3 or more individuals.
Enjoy the Gap: Eyes and Horns, Blue Land, Floating Memories, Walking on the Chairs, The Divers, Video Noire
In this section, various experimental short films will be screened, which intend to broaden the scope of film by dealing with images and concepts through various techniques rather than concentrating on narratives.
Screens are no longer reserved for traditional films, and many artists are producing creative works. Some of the films in this section have been shown at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. If the viewers let their eyes and ears wander, they will be able to fully enjoy the films' creativity and innovation, as the films offer unique rhythms and captivating visuals.
The Platform 1 program begins with Eyes and Horns, which contains primitive images reminiscent of cave paintings, and the Platform 2 program ends with Video Noire, which was created using computer graphics, so the 2 programs are assembled as if they were a single journey.
