I sincerely welcome you to the 39th Busan International Short Film Festival in 2022.
We are living in a chaotic era, with the never-ending COVID-19 pandemic, global conflicts in the United States, China, Russia, Ukraine, Myanmar and beyond, and an increasing global wealth polarization. Even during times of crisis and uncertainty, many individuals work tirelessly to overcome societal division, conflict, hatred and discrimination, and the flame of hope will not be extinguished thanks to their efforts.
In the midst of a chaotic era, the Busan International Short Film Festival is commemorating its 39th year with both anxiety and hope. This year's film festival will feature incredible short films from all around the world that capture the precious moments of our lives and the world through a microscopic perspective, and I hope that this will spark the flame of hope.
I'd like to express my gratitude to all the filmmakers who submitted their amazing work from all around the world. In addition, I want to convey my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped with this year's festival, despite the difficult circumstances. I wish everyone happiness and peace.
