The Busan International Short Film Festival has organized special programs to commemorate its 40th anniversary this year. Launched as the Korean Short Film Festival in 1980, it flourished and expanded to become the Busan Asian Short Film Festival in 2000, and then the Busan International Short Film Festival in 2010. This year's festival will be a place to recognize the festival's achievements in its principal duty of presenting short films to the world. A number of special programs have been prepared, including one that will feature short films that have won awards at previous BISFFs and other prestigious international film festivals, films selected for the BISFF's Short Film Project in 2023, and free outdoor screenings that will adorn the spring night sky with cinema.
