2023 Busan International Transmedia Forum
Cinema, which began to take shape in the early 20th century, has been in turmoil within the spheres of media language, technology, and industry. For example, cinematic language, community structures, and the emotions and experiences of the audience have all changed. As a result, film producers, audiences, and researchers have all been contemplating how new cinematic technologies can change cinematic language and the ways in which viewers perceive films. The Busan International Transmedia Forum (BIT Forum), which will be held as part of the Busan International Short Film Festival, will consider these ideas. The forum will kick off with a 3D film which was produced in collaboration with the DCTI and ETRI. Following that, the forum will look at several examples of expanded cinema, which could broadly be grouped into two categories: expansion and eXtension. The first session poses a question about the relationship between 3D and XR technologies. The second session focuses on extended cinema and new cinematic aesthetics. This year's forum aims to raise and redirect questions regarding expanded cinema by providing examples that actively respond to technical developments or ask new types of questions.
The festival hopes that this year's BIT Forum will be a venue for attendees to share thoughts and opinions on specific aspects and the practices of expanded cinema technology and aesthetics.
